![]() If that should never be done then it should not allow it. ![]() Kathleen Wilber BrightWillow - ASP.NET applicationsĪnd it is a bad idea to edit files by opening your live site. (I have three computers running Win 10, and EW has no problem connecting via FTP to any of my sites on those computers.) Editing "live" is not recommended for two reasons: any errors are live, instantly, on the site, until you notice them and correct them, and this work flow doesn't keep a copy of your site on your PC, which is a safe backupĬan you clarify what you are trying to do? That is not really editing the site on the server, but copying files down to your PC to edit them in a temporary location, then publishing them back up (FTP = file transfer You would not typically log into your site via FTP to edit it. If you are not, the work flow is: Edit your site on your local PC, test those changes by previewing in browsers, then when you are happy with your changes, publish them by connecting via FTP to do so. If you are (and I would be surprised - few hosts support them anymore), then you would connect using FPSE, not FTP. ![]() Thanks, I will really appreciate it I get a response!įirst, you have me confused: are you using FrontPage Server Extensions, or not? Has anyone experienced this with windows 10? Or, I may be just running Expression with the wrong settings (the ftp thing), but I have no idea where to start. I'm sure that the prob.s with the settings on Expression on the new computer, but I have no idea where to start. I can still edit my website on my old computer (Win. I think it's Windows 10's fault, because I have no problem login in with my Windows 8 computer. 10, but I can't login to Awardspace to edit my website. But, I 'can' successfully-login with my old PC (Win 8) - Is there some Frontpage-type setting that I could have forgotten to disable in Expression? 10 - Awardspace is just a simple ftp upload. I can't login via Expression on my new Win. EXpression installed smoothly, but I can't login to Awardspace to upload via ftp. I got a new 'Windows 10' computer this weekend, and installed "Microsoft Expression Web" - which I have always used to edit/build my web sites (ftp).
